Based at the Port of Stockton and extending its reach to the Port of Long Beach, Stockton Soda is building a modern, safe, and reliable export facility to meet the rising global demand for American natural soda ash.
American natural soda ash is an essential component in the clean economy, with no viable economic or environmental substitutes. It plays a critical role in producing clean energy transition products such as PV solar panels, energy-efficient windows, EV batteries and solid-state renewable energy storage.
Sustainability lies at the heart of Stockton Soda's operations, aligning with BlueTech's mission. Stockton Soda’s export of natural soda ash directly displaces carbon-intensive, higher-cost synthetic soda ash production overseas, making a substantial environmental impact. Natural soda ash production in the U.S. is far less energy-intensive and environmentally harmful than overseas synthetic alternatives. The Port of Stockton Terminal incorporates sustainability through advanced design and technology, including:
Innovative infrastructure: The infinity rail track system and zero-emission, ultra-high-speed ship loaders enhance operational efficiency, enabling quicker turnaround times for ships and trains and significantly cutting emissions.
All-electric conveyance: Across the Terminal, Stockton Soda is implementing state-of-the-art, zero-emission electric equipment to transport soda ash efficiently. This eliminates the need for traditional diesel-powered machinery, reducing the carbon footprint and contributing to improved air quality for nearby communities.
For Stockton Soda, sustainability also means supporting local jobs and families. The company has partnered with the San JoaquinBuilding Trades Council, representing 21 construction trade unions and over10,000 workers from San Joaquin, Calaveras, and Alpine counties, to ensure local employment opportunities in the construction phase of the project.
