The Blue Economy (ocean and water industries) is a growing sector with good paying jobs at all levels.
There are so many jobs in the Blue Economy. Learn about merchant marines, marine scientists, water technicians, and so many more jobs. Learn hands-on skills for 21st century jobs in the Blue Economy. This program is free to attend thanks to the generous support of our partners and donors.
Learn about the history and importance of San Diego’s maritime industry at The Maritime Museum of San Diego. Climb a jib, row, and learn navigation skills on actual ships.
Get insight on professional maritime training for U.S. Coast Guard, US. Navy, etc. at Training Resources Maritime Institute. Experience safety gear, drive a boat in the simulation room and much more.
Learn from SDSU marine science students at the Coastal and Marine Institute, experience ROVs and drones, or have a tour at SeaWorld. Day 3 experiences vary each week.

During this program, students will be introduced to the fields of marine biology and ecology, merchant marines, ship captains, and other Blue Economy careers. Be prepared to be active. This is not your typical classroom setting. You will be rowing, climbing, putting on gear, and using equipment.
